San Benedetto del Tronto: the capital of the Riviera delle Palme

With over 7,000 palm trees and almost 8 kilometres of seafront, San Benedetto del Tronto is the capital of the Riviera delle Palme. A vibrant and authentic city, seaside and cultural in equal measure. Not to be missed: the MAM Museum of Art on the Sea at the South Pier, with over a kilometre of sculptures with free admission; the Fish Market at the Port, open every morning from dawn; the brodetto sambenedettese at the Circoli sul Mare; and the Paese Alto with the Torre dei Gualtieri from the 13th century. The Nemo, La Sirenetta and La Stella holiday apartments are located directly in San Benedetto del Tronto, just metres from the beach.

Grottammare: the pearl of the Adriatic

Grottammare is a city of two souls: below, the elegant pedestrian seafront with Blue Flag beaches; above, the medieval village perched on the hillside, with its cobbled alleyways, sea viewpoints and an ancient stillness that surprises. Not to be missed: the pedestrian seafront, one of the most well-kept on the Marche coast; Grottammare Alta with the Teatro dell'Arancio and the panoramic sea-view terrace — the sunsets from here are extraordinary. A curiosity: Grottammare Alta is the birthplace of Pope Sixtus V, pope from 1585 to 1590. The Il Faro, L'Ancora, Il Timone, La Vela, La Conchiglia, Il Corallo and La Perla holiday apartments are just steps from the pedestrian seafront of Grottammare.

Ascoli Piceno: the city of travertine

Around 30 minutes by car from the Stelle sul Mare apartments, Ascoli Piceno is the unmissable cultural destination of any holiday on the Riviera delle Palme. One of the best-preserved medieval cities in Italy, built entirely in white travertine. Piazza del Popolo is considered one of the most beautiful squares in Italy: surrounded by Renaissance palaces, historic arcades and the Palazzo dei Capitani del Popolo from the 13th century. The olive ascolane eaten directly in the city are a completely different experience from the industrial versions. Every year, on the first Sunday of August, the Quintana transforms the square into a medieval jousting tournament in period costume.

Cupra Marittima: the quiet beach of the Riviera

Cupra Marittima, reachable in 15 minutes by bike from Grottammare and around 20 minutes by car from San Benedetto del Tronto, is a small gem of the Riviera delle Palme, ideal for those seeking quieter and less crowded beaches. Divided between the modern seafront and the charming medieval village of Marano, it is a perfect destination to visit during your stay in our Stelle sul Mare apartments.

You can also visit the Museo Malacologico Piceno, which houses one of the largest zoological collections in the world dedicated to shells, fossils and tools for mollusc harvesting. Cupra Marittima is the ideal choice for spending an alternative day at the sea, away from the summer crowds and immersed in the authentic atmosphere of the Riviera delle Palme.

The villages of Piceno: Offida and beyond

Just a few kilometres from the beach, the hills of Piceno conceal authentic and surprising medieval villages. Offida, around 30 minutes from the Stelle sul Mare holiday apartments, preserves intact the 14th-century medieval walls, the Teatro Serpente Aureo and the tradition of tombolo lace — an Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO. In January and February the Carnevale dei Vlurd takes place, one of the most evocative in Italy.
