The Grottammare seafront is one of the most beautiful and well-kept on the Marche coast. Entirely pedestrian, lined with palms, oleanders and flowering beds, it is the perfect place for evening strolls, sunset ice creams and dinners at seafront fish restaurants.
The beaches are awarded the Blue Flag every year and offer clean water with shallow seabeds, perfect for families. The cycle path connects Grottammare to San Benedetto del Tronto in just a few minutes.
Grottammare Alta: the medieval village overlooking the sea
Climbing from the marina up to the hillside you discover Grottammare Alta, one of the most evocative medieval villages in Le Marche. Perched on a spur with a panoramic view over the Adriatic, the historic centre preserves its intact medieval structure with narrow alleyways, stone staircases and sudden glimpses of the sea.
Not to be missed: the Church of Santa Lucia with its Romanesque portal, the 19th-century gem that is the Teatro dell'Arancio, the 16th-century Loggia dei Mercanti and the panoramic sea-view terrace — the sunsets from here are extraordinary.
